Our campaign has proudly set forth a comprehensive list of priorities that Neveen will address as your next District 1 Councilmember. Throughout her career as a former prosecutor and an attorney who owns a small business in Howard County, Neveen has championed the issues that matter to families and small businesses. As a mother of three children that attend our public school system, Neveen's top priority is to ensure that our public school system has continued success. Over the last several months of campaigning, residents from across District 1 have enthusiastically embraced our vision. As your next District 1 Councilmember, Neveen will maintain her commitment to our community and make sure your voice is heard.

EDUCATION

• Support a level of educational funding which sustains and enhances the school system to maintain its #1 status
• Enhance the school system by providing resources needed to enable our children to achieve their maximum potential
• Support School Resource Officers (SROs) with proper training and support
• Sustain a healthy and vibrant learning environment

SAFE COMMUNITIES 

• Support and enhance strong policing in our communities
• Provide adequate funding for law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency services 
• Support Professional Mental Health Units to partner with police 

SMALL BUSINESSES

• Support our local businesses and work to develop policies and programs for people to both work and live in Howard County
• Promote and enhance policies that contribute to small business development
• Collaborate with small businesses to champion their business goals
• Help with sustainability of small businesses 

AFFORDABLE DAYCARE

• Promote and implement programs that enable parents to work and provide affordable childcare
• Build partnerships with government and private sectors to provide affordable childcare for working parents
• Establish and promote policies that support safe and healthy environments for daycares 

OUR SENIORS

• Improve and support policies and programs that assist our senior community to age-in-place 
• Work to improve and enhance Howard County’s senior centers
• Support the social and health needs and well-being of older adults and their families 

THE ENVIRONMENT

• Enhance environmental policies that minimize negative impact on the environment 
• Promote and support policies for waste reduction, reuse, and recycling programs
• Promote and implement policies for public health and quality of life by integrating buildings with natural environment
• Promote and support sustainability through ecology and landscape practices and sustainable buildings design and operation
• Foster environmental education among county employees, residents, and businesses
• Support policies and programs which address climate change
• Champion programs and policies which sustain natural stream valleys 

ELKRIDGE

• Support the enhancement of Route 1 and the Elkridge community
• Advocate for “Welcome to Elkridge” signage

ELLICOTT CITY

• Promote and support policies and programs which maintain the historical, cultural, and business vitality of Ellicott City

COMMUNITY VALUES, IDEALS, AND WELL-BEING 

• Foster people working together to improve our community
• Promote respect for each other
• Foster cultural communication and collaboration
• Support policies and programs that enhance the vision of performance and visual arts in the community 
• Support policies and programs that contribute to leisure and recreational activities that contribute to health and quality of life

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Ensure for budgeting and funding of programs that are reasonable and necessary
• Carefully scrutinize budgetary requests
• Ensure that Howard County’s financial status is properly managed
